Bethany Elementary School is committed to having more families walk or bike to school to improve conditions in the clogged parking lot and increase safety for all. Also, health experts say that kids who get 60 minutes of physical activity a day are happier, healthier and perform better in school. By encouraging active transportation to school and throughout the community we are creating a healthier, safer, and more vibrant community.
The school team worked hard through 2017 to research, apply for and fund raise for a Rectangular Rapid Flashng Beacon (RRFB). This project was part of their Action Plan. Included in their action plan is pedestrian and bike safety lessons in PE classes, monthly walk and bike to school days and additional bike racks.
